Welcome!

I'm not new to talking, sharing ideas, or stating my opinion, especially stating my opinion! After all, I taught elementary school for 30 years! However, my audience has typically been smaller, just family, the classroom, or just talking to myself!

My blog has two goals: be an outlet for sharing thoughts on writing children's books and the path to publication (got my fingers crossed that I'll get there) and a place to chronicle my journey of losing my sight. Sometimes I imagine these two paths will overlap .

The suitcase is packed and I leave tomorrow morning. I'm so ready for this week of writing, learning, and camaraderie.

But I do have a question.

Am I up to this challenge? Do I really have the talent and creativity to be successful as a writer? I don't mean monetarily. I must admit to being unsure if I have the skill.

This week at Chautauqua is a hurdle to leap in my writing journey. From now until I arrive there tomorrow, my mantra will be:

I am read and able to accomplish this challenge. I will be open to all wisdom shared with me. I will let my creativity shine.

No blogging next week. Look for me on Monday, July 25th.
